Mr. Furman was the founder and CEO of Hawk Communications, a private pay- telephone company which provided public pay-telephone service throughout New England. He sold the business to a cable company in 1999. Mr. Furman spent most of his career with Furman Lumber Inc.,where as president, he grew the business to be the 2nd largest independent lumber wholesaler in the United States. The company was sold to Boise Cascade. He is a past Director of Emotion Mining, and on the advisory boards of OnePak, and a hedge fund. Mr. Furman is on the Board of Directors of the following non-profits: The Career Collaborative, The American Computer Foundation, Friendship Works, and The KuruKulla Buddhist Meditation Center.
He graduated from Cornell University with a BA in 1969 and the Harvard Business School Advance Management Program in 1988.
